A LONG time ago in a galaxy far, far away the Knights of the New Republic steeled themselves for battle at the Jedi Outpost, hidden in the centre of Narrabri’s old ambulance station. As May the 4th arrives, Star Wars fans prepared their lightsabers for an event that’s out of this universe. The May the Fourth Be With You event is headed by Rod ‘Rocket’ Strong, who runs weekly lightsaber academy classes out of his wife’s wellness centre. “There’s a famous quote by John Barrowman, he says, ‘Never apologise for being a nerd, because non-nerdy people don’t apologise for being jerks,” he said. “Let your nerd flag fly, people love this stuff – it’s about being among like-minded people and having some fun.”…
